Another painful moment has hit the family of nominated member of parliament in Narok honorable David Ole Sankok after son shot himself dead.
Memusi was a 15-yr old boy, first born in his family. He was studying in Kericho high school, joining form three.
According to the information, the boy had declined to report for the first term in Kericho high school. Schools resumed the 2022 academic calendar on 25th of April, but Memusi did not open with other learners.
When it was time for opening, the father, David Ole Sankok, was in the middle east attending to political issues. Since he couldn’t meet the boy before resuming studies, he sent some money for use during preparation and for the next few days while in school (pocket money).
However, upon receiving the money, the boy is said to have disappeared home and came back on Monday, the same day with father.
The two engaged in arguments with father showing disatisfaction especially on the grades Memusi scored back in school. The aftermath is a shock to everyone.
When Sankok left to other political meetings within Ewaso Nyiro Narok, he left orders that the boy must go back to school. It’s within that hour that Memusi shot himself on the chin using his father’s shotgun.
After Coronavirus hit the nation, the academic calendar has drastically been affected. The syllabus has also been seriously squeezed to accommodate the whole curriculum content within the short period.
This among other factors has led to many students falling in great depression. Together with the high demand from the parents and/or guardians concerning the grades scored, the situation has transformed from bad to worse.
Those involved have been urged to be vigilant on this issue, to choose the best approach on learners of the various categories. It has been noted that forcing learners beyond their ability will go a long way disappointing continuously, including the learners themselves.
