Four of President Uhuru’s appointees in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Office have been mentioned by an associate of President-elect William Ruto as individuals who will be fired as soon as the Supreme Court rules on the presidential case as fresh details emerge.

Garissa Town Member of Parliament Hon. Aden Duale revealed speaking to the Nation that after the Supreme Court of Kenya issues a decision on the Presidential petition after 21 days.
He would submit a petition to the Parliament, with the backing of Kenya Kwanza leaders, calling for the dismissal of the four IEBC Commissioners, namely Ms. Juliana Cherera, Mr. Francis Mathenge, Ms. Irene Cherop Masit, and Mr. Justus Abonyo Nyang’aya.

One of the Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties, which has petitioned for the four commissioners not to be spared, has already backed Aden Duale’s initiative.
“I will lodge a petition to Parliament once I have the whole judgement, which the court promised to make public after 21 days. The Supreme Court has indicted them, thus they (the commissioners) must return home, according to Aden Duale.

The party known as the Farmers Party alleged in their petition that the four commissioners had committed a grave constitutional violation and had broken their oath, asserting that they lacked the authority to serve in state posts as IEBC commissioners.
“The petition states that the commissioners’ actions “amounted to a violation of the public trust of the people of Kenya, rendering them ineligible to continue holding their constitutional posts and or acting as such.”
President Uhuru appointed Ms. Juliana Cherera, Mr. Francis Mathenge, Ms. Irene Cherop Masit, and Mr. Justus Abonyo Nyang’aya to serve as IEBC Commissioners in 2021 for a six-year term.
