In the recent amendments there was a three-step wage increase which was approved by the Wages and Remuneration Commission.
Following the cry of “solidarity forever for the union makes us strong” that most teachers have used on the street will finally stop with the implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) by the Wages and Remuneration Commission
Below are the breakdown of the new TSC salaries and the evaluation system for teachers.
TSC’s current teacher training has led to the demolition of some working groups and the merger of others.

With the new tutor rating system, teacher grades formerly known as P1 were in working group G, which was scrapped and replaced with grade B5
This degree has been designated as the new entry degree for all tutors at the primary school level.
Likewise, other subsequent degrees have been restructured and renamed as follows:
From J to C1
K to C2
L to C3
M to C4
N to C5
In addition to grades J to N there was another grade that belonged to the higher end which was designated as P, Q and R.
The three degrees were later renamed to:
P to D1
Q to D2
R to D3
According to the National Union of Teachers of Kenya, there was a request for additional work for the S and T groups, which the commission granted.
With the new classification, the two categories have been named D4 and D5 respectively. Chief principals now fall into category D5 of the new grading system.

According to the TSC Salary Circular released, the Teacher Service Commission will list the salary increase of different tutors according to their working groups for primary and secondary school tutors. The new pay scale of Kenyan teachers will be applied to working groups ranging from H, J, K, L, M and N.
Back Since the signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement in 2016, the implementation of the three-phase cycle is ongoing, and is currently in its third phase according to the TSC CBA implementation program.
In the teacher scale 13, in the scale T 12 and in the scale T 9, the commission also reviewed some of the allowances such as commute, hardship and annual leave. However, all other grants will remain unchanged.

For the main boss – Ksh. 165, 089 (minimum) and Ksh. 200, 928 (maximum)
For Senior Principal – Ksh. 143,748 (minimum) Ksh. 174,270 (maximum)
Headmaster GAT II – Ksh. 80,190 (minimum) Ksh. 97,290 (maximum)
For Senior GAT – Ksh. 69,590 (minimum) Ksh. 83,840 (maximum)
For GAT I – Ksh. 61,910 (minimum) Ksh. 71,880 (maximum) For GAT III – Ksh. 34,662 (minimum) Ksh. 39,918 (maximum)
For ATS IV – Ksh. 28,323 (minimum) Ksh. 33,662 (maximum)
The salaries of the TSC
Most teachers will have to go home empty-handed as their augmentation was concluded during the first two stages of CBA implementation
Secondary school teachers in the current C2 working group, formerly known as K working group with a Bachelor of Science degree or other equivalent, will not receive any salary increases during this 3rd phase.
It therefore means that the pay scale of the TSC k working group remains at a minimum of Ksh. 34, 955 and a maximum of Ksh. 43, 694
Also, the salary of some secondary school teachers in Kenya will not be affected as they belong to the non-incremental group for the third stage. The other categories of trainers whose salary increase was foreseen only for the 1st and 2nd phase are:

Equally the Teaching Service
The Commission has lined up more than 10 000 places to be filled by interns, also known as graduate trainees. Successful candidates will be absorbed in teaching for one year as the internship is scheduled for twelve months. Trainees of the teacher are entitled to a monthly salary from Ksh. 10,000 for primary school and Ksh trainees. 15,000 for secondary school trainees.
