The arrest of a schoolteacher who was reportedly assaulting three scholars led to the temporary check of Mosoriot Academy in Konoin, Bomet County, on Monday, July 25.
Following complaints from staff members and scholars, the academy’s operations were shut down by directors and education officers, who also arrested the schoolteacher.
The general terrain of the academy, as well as the boarding installations, weren’t favorable to learners, according to visiting officers examining the academy’s structure.

“ The academy was closed until Wednesday and no boarding will be allowed until the academy complies with the conditions ” said Dolphine Okondo, the Konoin Deputy County Commissioner.
The scholars indicted of being abused by the schoolteacher in guardianship, Bernard Kirui, ranged in age between 11 to 13. Despite being given a room by the academy, Kirui allegedly used to sleep in the boys ’ dormitory.
The academy rushed one of the victims to Litein Mission Hospital in Kericho after he complained of severe pain, according to police reports. It was determined that he’d been sodomized after a medical examination.

These findings support allegations made by academy staff, according to Konoinsub-County Police Commander Tom Achiya.
“ After the medical assessment, the boy was also interrogated by manly preceptors who had taken him to the sanitarium. The minor revealed that his class schoolteacher has been molesting him. He said the schoolteacher had also been molesting other pupils, ” said Achiya.
Mr Kirui risks life imprisonment if set up shamefaced.
