For preceptors indicted of having connections with scholars, the Kenya National Union of preceptors( KNUT) has asked for thorough, secure examinations.
On July 20, 2022, KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu stated during a media event at the union’s headquarters at KNUT House in Nairobi that the maturity of times, the indicted preceptors had noway been given the chance to defend themselves.
“ This trend can only be done down with if structured, dependable and reliable examinations are carried out and the right lawbreakers restrained.

He further suggested that a representative from preceptors ’ trade union be on board while handling correctional cases on the indicted preceptors, to give also moral support.
Oyuu has further suggested that the affected preceptors should be allowed to bring substantiations in their defense..
“ KNUT has also proposed that preceptors be allowed to have substantiations with them as they face correctional cases; this is because in utmost cases, the indicted preceptors have noway been given openings to prove themselves beyond reasonable mistrustfulness over the cases affecting them.

However, ” said the union master, If possible; a trade union representative be on board to support the preceptors on trial innocently.
In order to support the indicted preceptors innocently, he also recommended having a trade union representative present when handling correctional procedures against them.
Oyuu has also supported for allowing the impacted preceptors to call substantiations in their defense.

The purpose of the media briefing was to inform members of the union’s progress in the union- TSC relationship while also slipping light on current enterprises that were bandied at the Naivasha retreat with employer preceptors Service Commission( TSC) and implicit remedies.
It was also suggested that a TSC and KNUTSub-consultative Committee be established to assess correctional cases in order to prop preceptors who feel wronged by the standard procedure.
