Just in: Education officers have Opened thorough examinations After scholars Die In the Mukumu Girls High School.
Ministry of Education officers have been transferred to the Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County to probe the recent deaths of two scholars. The deaths are linked to the outbreak of malaria at the academy in the last month.
Western Region fellow of Education Mr. Stephen Barongo told Nation Africa on Tuesday July 5 that the platoon was anticipated to submit the report to the Ministry of Education by the following day Wednesday.
The platoon will be led by the Kakamega County director of education Mr. Dickson Ogonya.
“ We’ve instructed the ministry of education on the ground to visit the academy and probe the reports relating to the deaths of scholars and prepare a report that will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for action, ” said Mr Barongo to the media group.
He further directed that the officers will need to talk to scholars, teachers and other workers at the academy before collecting their report. One of the scholars is reported to have had a pre-existing condition and succumbed while entering treatment for malaria.
The pupil will be buried on Thursday July 7. Her coworker was reported to have developed complications after she passed an operation. It’s still unclear why the learner passed the operation and what she was actually suffering from.
But parents have complained about the poor response from the academy operation to cases of malaria outbreak after 28 scholars were hospitalised with fever and diarrhoea in May this year.
The parents and guardians of children in that academy came together to shoot an roar to the ministry of Education for the cause of the problem should be looked at and duly arrested soon before it claims further lifes of learners.
