Teacher training college students have been advised to enroll in ICT courses to acquire skills that will enable them to effectively implement the Competency Based Curriculum (KBK).
The former Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), Professor Justus Mbae Muranga, said this while presiding over the 27th graduation ceremony of the Teacher Training College, with 522 graduates.
It is said that digital literacy is essential in teaching the new curriculum and that teachers with skills and knowledge will be essential in the education sector.

According to Prof. Mbae, the KBK curriculum is an innovative teaching process that requires effective teaching from teachers who understand ICT.
Professor Mbae said the world is constantly catching up with the emerging ICT sector and Kenya’s education sector is constantly moving towards teaching services on digital platforms.

He told the students to instill positive values, attitudes, and behaviors so that they can build the morals of students who are trusted by the community.
Prof. Mbae said that corruption is a major threat to the management of people’s money and resources, challenging the youth and professionals entering the civil service to stand firm and challenge the country to save the country from the menace of corruption.

Don said that a large amount of funds allocated for construction is being destroyed by government officials.
The principal, Purity Kihara Ngure, announced plans to make the institution a leader in digital education.

Ngure said the college is the best in the country to produce qualified young teachers with the necessary skills to deploy CBC.
However, he lamented that young people should not train as teachers which will adversely affect the future development of children.
Out of 522 cases, there are only 174 male students compared to 348 female students.
