Eight universities awarded exemptions by President Uhuru Kenyatta by elevating them into completely- fledged universities.
Speaking at the Kakamega State Lodge, chairman Uhuru Kenyatta challenged universities to change method in the delivery of advanced education in the country to manage with the request demands worldwide.
He said the coming phase in the development of the country’s institutions of advanced literacy should shift focus to university education that’s more responsive to a dynamic global frugality.
“ This is because in an decreasingly globalized employment and entrepreneurship geography, our children are no longer simply contending with their fellow citizens then in Kenya but actually with learners from across the world, ” said President Kenyatta.

At the same time, the Head of State prompted universities and institutions of advanced literacy to streamline their conditioning to help corruption in the allocation of degree instruments.
He refocused out that corruption doesn’t only erode the character of the Kenyan education system but it also undermines the confidence of youthful graduates in the job request.
“ We want to combat corruption and corruption isn’t only the theft of public finances but it’s also the theft of degrees that are handed over to unqualified people, ” the President said.

President Kenyatta emphasized that it should be the cardinal duty of university administrations to insure only active scholars earn the instruments from their hard work.
Speaking against race institutions of advanced literacy, chairman Kenyatta said universities should draw their pupil population from across the country to promote public integration and cohesion.
“ Our universities should be open, not just to people from our vicinity but to all Kenyans and indeed indeed to transnational scholars, ” the President said.
He also asked institutions of advanced literacy to introduce so as to remain applicable in the decreasingly competitive global request.
The eight institutions located in eight counties which were given exemptions include:
- Kaimosi musketeers University ( Vihiga),
- Alupe University( Busia),
- Tom Mboya University( Homa Bay),
- Tharaka University( Tharaka Nithi),
- Lukenya University( Makueni),
- Zetech University( Kiambu),
- Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology( Nairobi)
- The East African University( Kajiado).
The chairman further prompted universities to put invention in the van so as to feed for world’s dynamics in knowledge and technology.
According to Uhuru, it’s for this reason that Kenya has invested in university education to enhance access to applicable and marketable courses that will herald a new period of invention; thereby propelling our country to advanced situations of profitable and social development.
President Kenyatta also refocused out that his administration has been keen on transubstantiating Kenya’s education geography by enforcing colorful programs and systems to boost transition rates and give Kenyan scholars a relative advantage in the global request.

As a result, President Kenyatta said the number of tertiary institutions has increased from 52 in 2013 to the current 238, an increase of 435 percent.
“ We haven’t only done this by giving institutions full autonomy, as we’re doing then moment but also by opting a many technical institutions to address matters of public significance similar as we did with the National Defence University, ” President Kenyatta said.
Citing the perpetration of the faculty- Grounded Class( CBC), President Kenyatta said the metamorphosis in the education sector is on course.
“ Through the faculty- Grounded Education that’s now underway in the lower situations, we’re permitting our youthful learners to determine from an early stage their area of specialization, ” President Kenyatta said.
