The 410 acres of Kenyatta University land will now be taken over by the government thanks to an Environment and Lands Court decision.
This is after Justice Oscar Angote dismissed the Law Society of Kenya’s action challenging the preemption,
In his decision, Justice Angote stated that the government has a good intention to seize the land, an end that can not be stopped.

The Law Society of Kenya( LSK) stated that Kinyua lacks the governance to begin or carry out conduct for the forcible purchase of public land in its operation, which was submitted through attorney Ahmednassir Abdullahi.

According to the president of the university council, the government can not acquire the land without their concurrence, hence the procedure was unlawful from the launch. Because of this, Abdullahi concluded, the university has a licit reason to fight the draconian preemption.
