A police abstract is a document or form that the National Police Service issues as evidence of a complaint or case involving an accident or a certain crime.
In Kenya, there are two types of police abstract forms that are commonly used. Accident Abstract Form and General Abstract Form (used when reporting crime-related cases).
In the event of an accident or if you need the insurance company to compensate you for stolen goods, a police abstract may be required.
It’s also required if you’ve misplaced your National ID and want to get a replacement.
In some cases, police abstracts may be used as a reference in lawsuits or as a reference for settlement or compensation.
The procedure for obtaining a police abstract form is no longer as complicated as it formerly was. The form is available for free download on the National Police Service’s website. The abstract forms can be picked up at Huduma centers in the event of a lost National ID.
