In Kenya today, most children who excel in both the Kenya certificate of primary education (KCPE) and the Kenya certificate of secondary education are a major group of special needs students.
Their major challenge has always been lack of enough funds to enable them proceed or maintain the relatively high academic cost. Some of such learners end up staying at home hopelessly while other students are in school learning, and thereafter come back to only take the exams. Some go further to even drop out of school completely and therefore their academic dreams are naturally shuttered.
To ensure such students are also maintained in school, the Equity group foundation and Mastercard foundation has come up with a special program called Equity Wings to Fly Scholarship that helps in paying secondary school fees and meeting other learning needs for students who come from poor backgrounds and have excelled in their KCPE 2022 exams.
To apply for the Wings to fly scholarship 2022, students who did their Kenya certificate of primary education this year (2022) are asked to fill out the application forms below and surrender them to reach the relevant authorities:
It’s worth noting that not every student is viable for the scholarships. This is because the solemn objective of the foundation is to reach the very needy case within society.
Some factors are therefore considered to ensure equity among applicants, and hence serving as a litmus for determining whether you are eligible for the Wings to fly 2022 scholarship.
The include the following;
1) You must be in the top 5th percentile in your sub-county in terms of marks. This means that when a graph of cumulative frequency against the range of marks scored is plotted, you should fall under the top 5 percent group of performers.
2) You must be from an economically disadvantaged background (I.e Orphan, guardians with disability and can’t support you, parents with chronic illness, disabled needy parents e.t.c)
3) You must be a Kenyan Citizen, either by birth, by registration or any other acceptable way of acquiring citizenship.
4) You must have your result slip, for the recently released 2022 KCPE examination.
Applicants are therefore urged to apply earlier enough to avoid being left behind.
