Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has revealed details of a short meeting he before had this week with the Azimio La Umoja coalition presidential platoon.
Sonko met Raila Odinga and Martha Karua on Tuesday at Wilson Airport as he was bidding farewell to the leader of his Wiper party, Kalonzo Musyoka.
The platoon was on its way to the Coast, where they planned to hold rallies to promote Raila’s administration in the counties of Taita Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, and Kilifi.
Sonko said that before Raila arrived, Karua, whom he refers to as his political mama , had arrived first.
“ I told her that she hadn’t seen me on the crusade trail because of the multitudinous court cases, ” he said.
“ We’ve a problem in Azimio because I believe I can deliver further votes than Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir. After ten twinkles, Baba( Raila) arrived. ”
The megacity politician claimed Raila pushed him to abandon his shot for governor in favor of Abdulswamad Nassir of the ODM, but he refused.
“ Raila prompted me to step down in favour of Abdulswamad, but I didn’t misbehave with his request since I know I’ve further support on the ground, ” Sonko said.
Sonko’s indictment was verified by the Supreme Court three days after the High Court and Court of Appeal’s rulings were upheld.
The Supreme Court’s decision upheld the lower courts ’ judgments that his junking from office by the Senate was licit.
